The Best African Act(s) of the Year is the Artiste(s) other than a Ghanaian but African whose music crossed borders and made waves in Ghana and in the continent at large during the year under review. Board (60%) and the General Public (40%)

BEST RAPPER OF THE YEAR

The Best Rapper of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the rap Artiste with the best word masterpieces, rhymes and rap dexterity on a song which was released in the year under review and made waves.

BEST NEW ARTISTE

The Best New Artiste of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most outstanding and talented emerging artiste (s). The award goes to a relatively new artiste(s) who released a SINGLE/ALBUM that FIRST shot the artiste(s) into the limelight during the year under review.

MOST POPULAR SONG OF THE YEAR

The Most Popular Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board (60%) and the General Public (40%) as the most popular song released in the year under review, irrespective of genre. The song must have enjoyed a lot of airplay and generated the most excitement during the year.

PRODUCER/SOUND ENGINEER OF THE YEAR

The Producer/Sound Engineer of the Year award is adjudged by the Board (70%) and the General Public (30%) to the Producer or Sound Engineer directly responsible for the recording, mastering and technical treatment of a nominated song during the year under review.

GOSPEL ARTISTE OF THE YEAR

The Gospel Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Gospel genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review and Generally recognized as a Gospel Artiste

HIPLIFE/AFRO-POP ARTISTE OF THE YEAR

The Hiplife/Afro-pop Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Hiplife/Afro-pop genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review and Generally recognized as a Hiplife/Afro-pop Artiste.

HIGHLIFE ARTISTE OF THE YEAR

The Highlife Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Highlife genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album during the year under review and Generally recognized as a Highlife Artiste.

REGGAE/DANCEHALL ARTISTE OF THE YEAR

The Reggae/Dancehall Artiste(s) of the Year is the Artiste(s) adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Artiste(s) with the highest audience appeal and popularity in the Reggae/Dancehall genre. The Artiste(s) must have released a hit single/album in the year under review and Generally recognized as a Reggae/Dancehall Artiste.

HIGHLIFE SONG OF THE YEAR

The Highlife song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most popular Highlife song released in the year under review and generated the most excitement during the year.

HIPLIFE/AFRO-POP SONG OF THE YEAR

The Hiplife/Afro-Pop Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most popular Hiplife/Afro-Pop Song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

REGGAE/DANCEHALL SONG OF THE YEAR

The Reggae song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most popular Reggae/Dancehall song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

GOSPEL SONG OF THE YEAR

The Gospel Song of the Year is the song adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most popular Gospel Song released in the year under review. The song must have generated the most excitement during the year.

BEST DJ OF THE YEAR

The Best Disc Jockey of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Ghana Based DJ with a national appeal, crossed borders and made the most impact during the year under review. Must have at least 3 Years’ experience working in either a club, on radio, with an artist or mobile.

EUROPE BASED DJ OF THE YEAR

The Best Disc Jockey of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the European Based DJ with a European appeal and made the most impact during the year under review. Must have at least 5 Years’ experience working in clubs, radio, with an artist or mobile.

ENTERTAINMENT FRIENDLY ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR

This is adjudged 100% by the Academy and Board as the organization that has supported the entertainment industry immensely during the year under review.

BEST ACTRESS OF THE YEAR

The Best Actress of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Ghana or Europe Based Actress who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role with a strong national appeal, versatility, high consumer demand, crossed borders and made the most impact during the year under review in acting.

BEST ACTOR OF THE YEAR

The Best Actor of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the Ghana or Europe Based Actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a leading role with a strong national appeal, versatility, high consumer demand, crossed borders and made the most impact during the year under review in acting.

MOVIE DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR

The Movie Director of the year is adjudged by the Board (60%) and the General Public (40%) as the Ghanaian or European Based Director who has delivered an outstanding performance in directing a movie with a strong national appeal, crossed borders and made the most impact during the year under review in acting.

BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR

The Movie of the year is adjudged by the Board (100%) as the movie with an outstanding story line and enjoyed a lot of patronage and generated the most excitement during the year, with a strong national appeal, crossed borders and made the most impact during the year under review in acting.

BEST GHANAIAN COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR

The Best Ghanaian Comedian of the Year is adjudged by the Academy, Board and the General Public as the comedian either Ghana Based or European Based with the highest public appeal, acceptance and popularity. The person must have headlined at least one show locally and must have performed at least one show outside Ghana during the year under review.

BEST MUSIC GROUP OF THE YEAR

The Best Group of the Year is the Group adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the group with the highest audience appeal and popularity. They must comprise of at least 2 or more members and must have released a hit single/album during the year under review.

BEST MUSIC VIDEO OF THE YEAR JOINT (2)

The Music Video of the year is adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the most creative and entertaining music video produced within the calendar year. The song for which the video has been produced, need not have been released in the year under review. The award goes to both Director and Artiste

COLLABORATION OF THE YEAR

The Best Collaboration of the year is the song adjudged by the Board (50%) and the General Public (50%) as the song released through the collaboration or featuring of two or more Artistes. The song must have been released and generated the most excitement during the year under review.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR

The Album of the Year is adjudged by the Board (60%) and the General Public (40%) as the most outstanding compilation of hit songs on an album that was released during the year under review. It must have generated the most excitement during the year.

RADIO/TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR

The individuals must possess some or all the following traits which set them apart from their peers and make audiences positively anxious to tune in whenever they are on set or on air;This is adjudged by the Board (60%) and the General Public (40%) ..

  • Personality must exude confidence, class, style and gusto which excites viewers and listeners in Ghana.
  • Personality consistently presents content in an articulate manner.
  • Presenter should have the ability to inspire the viewers to go out and make a positive impact in their community and the nation.
  • Gestures, Mannerisms and Costuming must be on point, consistently.
  • Presenter should deliver research and investigations in an entertaining and simplistic manner.
  • Presenter should have good presentation skills. The analysis of complex matters should be handled expertly so the layman can understand.
  • Presenter should inspire citizens to go out and make positive impact on the society.
  • Vitally, Presenter must be capable of handling interviews with ease and class.

EUROPE BASED RADIO/TV PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR
